Showing a waterfront home. The owner needed additional space as the building was becoming a permanent residence rather than a weekend cottage. They prefered the location so this was a logical solution.
An addition on the front of the home for a larger living room with a vaulted ceiling, and replacing the small half story with a full second floor gave a significantly larger living space.
This cabin was over 60 years old and was structurally deficient from day one. The roof system was constructed of logs and was not strong enough to resist sagging, the sagging resulted in roof deck buckling which caused significant leaking. The half log walls needed to be rebuilt due to rot, use of parallel trusses for the new roof system allowed us to replicate the original rustic interior look while adding modern insulation.. Log siding was added to maintain the look of the home, a multi coat finish ensures that the siding does not decay at the seams.
